CHAINS
At times in my life I have felt like I have been in chains. You know, like I've been chained to a certain sin and cannot get away from it. As I've read my Bible I have seen that the devil's "chains" are not even connected to me...he is just what God says he is, a liar.
I took the picture above at a local establishment. The chain is around the bench and locked, but it is not bound to another object, that is how I see the devil's "chains"...not bound to me, only to him.
This comes from Colosians 2:13-15 which says when we were dead in our sin, God made us alive with Him.
How did He do this?
Great question!
He did this by cancelling the debt that stood against us with its legal demands (Col 2:14).
Right, God made believers in the risen Lord clean, white as snow although our sin is red like crimson (Isaiah 1:18). He justified us!
As a result, God disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame by triumphing over them (Col 2:15)!!
Exactly who are the rulers and authorities God put to shame?
Ephesians 6:12 has that answer. It's against the powers of darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. In other words, Satan and his forces.
So all that means that you and I are NOT chained to sin. Just like that bench is not chained to anything. If we are chained to anything, I want it to be the Gospel. As believers in Christ as our Savior we don't have to live in shame, even when we sin.
The chains that are locked around the devil sure make a lot of noise and that's all it is...noise. He can't take my Salvation or my righteousness because God has disarmed him. Praise the Lord!!
Lord help us to live in Your victory everyday, especially when we sin. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen
